Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Foundation Scholars’ Association of the University of Cape Coast has paid a visit and donated items to the Trinity Hope Centre Orphanage at Ayensudo.
The items contained in the donation comprised a bag of sugar, baby foods, cartons of soft drinks, baby diapers, soaps, washing powders, and detergents among others.
GNPC Foundation Scholars’ Association is a University of Cape Coast students-based beneficiaries of the GNPC Scholarship who have come together to contribute to impacting lives.
Speaking at the donation ceremony, the president of the association, Tebson Haruna Mohammed said the observance of February as the month of love will only be meaningful when love is shown to the less privileged in society, hence their presentation to the orphanage centre.
He also pledged the association’s continuous collaboration and support to Hope Centre Orphanage.
According to him, some daily items are important to the facility and the association will ensure the facility has them for their daily use.
“When we contacted the administrator, she mentioned bread, sugar, and diapers for the babies and other foods for the units. We right away got the list and went to the market to get the things for them… We have assured them that because of the bread they are not having, we are going to ensure that we provide them with bread for these three months and we looking to sustain bread production.”
“So, we are ensuring that everything that we are going to provide them, we are going to sustain them; it means it is not something that they should lack” he added.
Receiving the donation, the Administrator of Trinity Baptist Hope Centre Orphanage, Madam Deborah Essuman expressed her satisfaction with the association.
She however appealed to members of the society to follow suit and donate to the Orphanage centre, especially with foodstuffs.
She emphasized saying “Whenever you want to visit, you just have to give us a phone call and I’ll be very glad if you ask us what we really need… Our major problem is the washing powder, bread, and diaper, and foodstuffs. As for the provisions, we have been eating every day, but they need the local foods more”
