Four persons have been confirmed dead in an accident on the Mankessim-Apam stretch of the Cape Coast Accra highway.
Nineteen persons who also sustained several degrees of injuries are receiving treatment at the Mercy Women Roman Hospital at Mankessim.
The accident which occurred in the afternoon of Monday, October 31, 2022, involved a Mercedes Benz Sprinter van with registration number GW 7181-22 with passengers travelling towards Accra.
Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII ABDUL WASIU HUDU who confirmed this explained that “The Fire Rescue Team observed that the two rear tyres of the bus were busted which they suspect could be the supposed cause of the accident.”
According to him, the team received a call at 14:42hrs reporting the accident. Upon arrival at the scene, they met 2 dead bodies with the injured taken to the Mercy Women Roman Hospital. No one was however trapped in the bus.
DOIII ABDUL WASIU HUDU indicated two more persons died on arrival at the hospital.
