The Majority Caucus in parliament demanding the immediate removal of Ken Ofori Atta and Charles Adu Boahen has agreed to President Akufo Addo’s plea to allow the two to stay till after the IMF negotiations and the presentation of the budget statement in November.
The president succeeded in convincing the majority when they made to plea to him during a press conference on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in which they attributed the quick economic downward turn to the mismanagement of the economy and abysmally performance by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.
According to the aggrieved MPs belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), all attempts made through the necessary leadership to have the aforementioned persons removed from office have proven futile.

Subsequently, the president engaged them in a meeting and pleaded for calm as agreeing to their request could mar the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal.
In a release signed by the Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Caucus said they have acceded to the president’s plea.
As such they will hold on to their request until the conclusion of the round of negotiations with the IMF and the presentation of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy in November 2022 and the subsequent passage of the Appropriation Bill, after which time the demand shall be acted upon.
