The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has arrested six suspected armed robbers in connection with series of robberies including car theft in both Greater Accra and Central Regions.
The Police made the arrest through a targeted intelligence-led operation between April 15 and April 17, 2022.
The six suspects, Jibrila Musa alias Danturi, Hussain Sampa, Daniel Acquah, Anthony Sackey, Michael Ojo, and Ade Banjor, were arrested at various locations across the two regions.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Alexander Kwaku Obeng, items retrieved so far from the suspects are one locally manufactured gun, one foreign pistol, a cache of ammunition, two iPhones, four wristwatches and one of the stolen vehicles.
The statement also noted that the suspects who have admitted during cross-examinations to their involvement in robberies over the years are helping the Police in investigations.
Meanwhile, the Police says it has met some of the victims as part of its strategy to give them closure with regards to their unpleasant experiences with the arrested armed robbers.
It assured the public of its commitment to providing a safe environment for all Ghanaians.
However, the Ghana Police Service urges all and sundry to support it in the fight against crime in the country.
