National executives of the Ghana Bar Association, GBA, have paid a courtesy visit to management of the University of Cape Coast. The visit was to introduce the executives to the leadership of the University as a step toward deepening the academic corporation between the GBA and the Faculty of Law-UCC.
President of the Association, Mr. Yaw Acheampong Boafo, in a brief remark, informed management of the Association’s scheduled 2023 GBA annual general conference to be held in the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast.
He said Cape Coast was billed to host the conference this year but the Corona Virus pandemic scuppered the plans of the Association, deferring the conference to next year.
For his part, Prof. Isaac Galyuon, Provost of the College of Distance Education-UCC who represented the Vice-Chancellor at the meeting congratulated the executives on their electoral victory.
He conveyed to the delegation the greetings of both the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor, who were on University assignments outside the region.
Prof. Galyuon acknowledged the immense role played by the association in the advancement of the Faculty of Law.
The Founding Dean of the Faculty of Law-UCC, Prof. Philip Ebo Bondzi-Simpson, briefly speaking to the delegation, said the association should count on the commitment of the Faculty for any assistance as regards the success of the forthcoming conference.
He said there have been discussions between the Faulty of Law and the GBA to draw modalities for the continuous development of the legal profession.
Present at the meeting were the Registrar of the University, Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame; Director of Consular and General Services, Mrs. Alberta Graham; Head of Legal Section, Mr. Solomon Faakye and an Assistant Registrar from the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Alfred Ghartey.
The national GBA delegation included Mr. Anthony Forson Jnr, the immediate past president; Mr. Saviour Quarcoo Kudze, PRO as well as the president of the Central Regional branch of the Association, Mr. Samuel Adu- Yeboah and his executives.
