The Director of the Confucius Institute of Ghana, Professor Ishmael Mensah has called on the youth, especially students to embrace changes in other to become relevant in their communities.
He believes that the dynamism in every aspect of life requires the modern youth to position themselves to embrace and adopt changes that will contribute to their personal development.
“Change is all around us. Whether we like it or not; things will keep on changing and so in order for us to move on we need to first of all stop living in the past. Not embracing new ideas, new concepts and innovations do not promote personal development and national development,” he said.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS on the sidelines of a symposium on the challenge of Change organized by the National Union of Ghana Students-UCC Local in collaboration with International Youth Fellowship, Prof. Mensah indicated the youth can embrace change if they stop living in the past, anticipate change, and adapt the change when it occurs.
He added that the youth should seek more information and embrace new trends that can impact their lives positively.
On his part, a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Prof. George K. T Oduro encouraged students not to only pass through the University but also patronize programmes such as seminars that will add value to their lives.
He further admonished the youth to prioritize personality development over the rush for riches if they want to enjoy their adulthood.
Meanwhile, Prof. K. T. Oduro has also called on universities to create opportunities for young people to engage one another on issues related to change and change acceptance since this can make them very promising for national development.
