The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Grow, Unite, Build Africa (GUBA) Enterprise has held the Invest in Central Region forum to raise awareness on the various opportunities that the region has and yet to be tapped.
The event, held at the University of Cape Coast, is one of the planned activities earmarked for the commemoration of the country’s 65th anniversary.
The Central Regional Minister, heads of security services, traditional leaders, students, and chief executives of government institutions and private businesses were among those who attended the ceremony.
In an address, the Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan emphasized the forum was to give a platform to discuss important prospects of the region.
She believes that the region has many untapped investment opportunities and stressed the need to develop initiatives that will tap into the numerous opportunities in the region and lead to the region’s development and growth.
“This is very important and we need to build and develop initiatives to attract and sustain investments into the region, ” she emphasized.
To her, the region with all her allocates of being the seat of education, the heartbeat of tourism, region of excellence among others should be brought into fusion.
She, therefore, challenged all and sundry to ensure this becomes a reality.
She said, “it’s becoming like something on a paper and I really want to challenge ourselves and move it to the next level.”
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yoofi Grant expressed displeasure that despite the numerous resources in the region, little has been done to utilize the resources efficiently for the benefit of the region and the country as a whole.
He indicated that his outfit is prepared to market and create awareness of the region’s investment potentials in order to boost the economy.
Executive Director for Pan- African Historical Theatre Project (PANAFEST), Rabbi Kohain Halevibi urged all Diasporas to invest in the various sectors of opportunities in the region.
