Governance expert and Director General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr. Eric Oduro Osae has called on government to institute what he refers to as a comprehensive national human resource development plan that would ensure proper recruitment processes in the country.
His call comes at the back of thousands of Ghanaian youth thronging the El-Wak Sports Stadium and the Lavender Hill in Accra in hopes of being recruited into the Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana National Fire Service.
Dr. Osae bemoaned the overwhelming number of young people queuing for jobs and says they are rather being exposed to danger especially in the midst of Covid19.

He questioned saying “Couldn’t we have developed a system that will pre-qualify them before we get to this level?
To him, Ghana should take a cue from other countries in their recruitment system which does not involve queuing by applicants.
He added that it is about time government adopted a better alternative means of recruiting people into the various public sectors.
“I think going forward if the managers of this process will manage it in such a way that will avoid the queues, use the electronic system, and give them time like what the national service is doing now. In that case you are able to manage the system.
He therefore calls on government to develop a comprehensive national human resource development policy that will project into the future.
The massive queuing by the unemployed youth on Tuesday follows the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s financial clearance in July 2021 for about 11,840 recruitment into the security services in the country.
