The Central Region on Tuesday joined the other fifteen regions in the country to commence a seven days point mass distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide-treated Nets (LLIN). The exercise targets the mass protection of Ghanaians against malaria.
Deputy Central Regional Director of Public Health, Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong, speaking on the exercise noted that about 726,631 households in the region are to benefit from the exercise.
“Prior to this exercise we conducted registration of all our households in the Central Region and we registered 726,631 households and for these households, we have received one million six hundred and eighty-five thousand long-lasting insecticide-treated nets to be distributed. We have established 973 distribution points across all our 22 Districts and we are relying on two thousand nine hundred and nineteen distribution point attendants who are going to give out the nets to persons who will come to the distribution points.”

Dr. Kwabena Sarpong also noted that measures have been put in place to ensure full compliance with Covid-19 protocols while the distribution exercise goes on. Adding that the attendants have extra masks to give out to ensure people adhere to the preventive protocols.
This exercise he explained is being vigorously monitored by Sub District Health Staff, District technical officers, Regional technical officers and then National Technical officers in all 22 districts. This is to ensure that the nets are being given out well and problems that will arise are addressed.
