The Government of Ghana has declared Monday, 22nd September 2025, a statutory public holiday to mark Founder’s Day.
In a statement released on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, and signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Ministry explained that the holiday falls in line with the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended.
The statement noted that although Founder’s Day falls on Sunday, 21st September 2025, President John Dramani Mahama has, by Executive Instrument (E.I), declared the following Monday as an additional holiday in accordance with Section 2 of the Act.
“The President has declared Monday, 22nd September 2025, as a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the statement stated.
The Ministry urged Ghanaians to take note and observe the day nationwide.
