This season, they’ve strengthened their bench significantly with young talents like Caoimhe Kelly, Olwen Rabbitte, and Ciara Hickey, all of whom have stepped up to make their presence felt.

Donohue sees maturity and team unity as Galway’s biggest strengths this time around. “We’re a lot more mature now,” she noted. “The younger girls who made their All-Ireland debut last year now have that experience, and even newer ones like Caoimhe Kelly are pushing us hard in training.” The mix of experienced veterans and fresh talent is fostering healthy competition and bonding within the squad.

According to Donohue, the Galway team has grown closer on and off the field, making them a more cohesive unit. “We’re very tight as a group,” she explained. “There’s great competition for places, but it’s all healthy. It pushes everyone to be better.” This marks the third All-Ireland final meeting between Galway and Cork since 2021, with one win each so far. They’ve already clashed twice this year, splitting the results.

Even with all the familiarity between the two teams, Donohue insists Galway are focused entirely on their own game plan. “We’ve played each other so many times, but when you step onto Croke Park for the final, anything can happen,” she said. “We know Cork are excellent, but we believe we’re ready for whatever comes our way.”
