Tottenham Fans Split on Postecoglou as Season Goes South
Tottenham’s Cup Hopes Dash
Tottenham’s tough season just got tougher. They were knocked out of two cup competitions in three days. First, they lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Then, they fell to Aston Villa 2-1 in the FA Cup. These losses have ramped up the heat on manager Ange Postecoglou. The team is struggling at 14th in the Premier League. Support for Postecoglou Fading
At first, many Tottenham fans didn’t want Postecoglou out. They hoped the team would win a trophy. Now, with only the Europa League left, some fans are starting to lose patience. While some question his future, others still stand by him.
Scott McDonald, a former Socceroo, talked about this with The Official THFC Supporters Club of Australia for Optus Sport. He found that many fans believe Postecoglou should get more time. Andrew, a fan, feels close to the manager, but admits results haven’t been great.
“I really like Ange. He’s a great leader and a good guy. You want him to do well,” Andrew said. “But the results make me think. I’m still ‘Ange in,’ but I’m not sure for how long.
Bigger Problems at Tottenham
Andrew also mentioned that Tottenham hasn’t won a trophy in 17 years. He thinks the issues run deeper than just the manager. He believes the club’s problems relate to ownership and management.
“It’s clear that how the club is run affects its chances of winning,” he added.
Matt, another fan, agrees that firing the manager might not fix anything. He believes it’s important to keep supporting Postecoglou.
Winning Europa League is Key
Matt sees winning the Europa League as vital, not just for a trophy but for getting into the Champions League too. This could really change things for Tottenham.
“I’m still ‘Ange in.’ It’s about more than just him,” he said. “If we fire him, who do we get? What if nothing changes? I’d rather keep backing someone we’ve supported for 18 months.”
He also mentioned how hard it is for Tottenham to attract top players now. Winning Europa League could help bring some star talent back.
“We are having a tough time. Players who should want to join us are saying no. Winning could help us get that appeal back.”
A recent example is Mathys Tel, who was unsure about joining on loan. But after talking with Postecoglou, he decided to come. Tottenham Fans Divided on Postecoglou.
What’s Next for Spurs?
With the Premier League season slipping and more cup exits, Postecoglou’s future is unclear. Some fans back him, while others are losing hope. Now, the Europa League is Tottenham’s best shot to rescue the season and maybe even Postecoglou’s job.
