Godwin Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo officially assumed office as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Monday, January 27, 2025, pledging transformative changes in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.
Speaking to staff and management at the NPA’s Accra headquarters, Mr. Tameklo underscored his commitment to driving reforms and embracing innovation to enhance operational efficiency.
He emphasized that his leadership would align with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of reshaping the petroleum sector for national growth.
“The status quo is no longer enough,” he stated, emphasizing the need for fresh strategies to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the sector.
Mr. Tameklo outlined his leadership philosophy, centered on teamwork, inclusivity, and fairness, while assuring staff that their welfare would remain a priority under his administration.
He called for collective action to achieve the Authority’s goals, urging employees to rally behind his vision.

Ernest Ayeh-Datey, Chairman of the NPA Welfare Committee, congratulated the new CEO and pledged the staff’s full cooperation in advancing the NPA’s mandate.
Mr. Tameklo brings over a decade of legal and governance expertise to his new role.
A seasoned lawyer, he holds an LLM (Master of Laws) in Natural Resources with a focus on Downstream Petroleum from the University of Ghana and has practiced extensively in criminal, civil, and commercial litigation.
He is a partner at Ayine & Partners Law Firm and previously served as Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His appointment marks a strategic shift aimed at addressing inefficiencies and fostering growth within the petroleum sector, a critical area of Ghana’s economy.
As he settles into his new position, stakeholders will be watching closely to see how his leadership transforms the NPA in the coming months.
