Manchester United’s Goals with Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim is getting ready to push for European competition. Manchester United is going through another rebuilding phase. There’s a lot of change at Old Trafford. The new manager wants to make his mark on the team.
A Fresh Start, A New Challenge
Amorim took over when United was stuck in mid-table. They had a rough time under Erik ten Hag. Fans know Amorim’s style will take time. He wants to switch from a basic setup to an attacking style with three defenders.

Early Problems and a Game-Changer
Things didn’t go smoothly at first. United won just one of Amorim’s first four league matches. But then came a huge boost: a thrilling win in the Manchester Derby. Two late goals gave them a dramatic victory at their rivals’ home. This win lifted the mood around Manchester.
Amorim made a gutsy choice by dropping Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for the derby. This showed he means business and wants to set clear goals.
Still Going for Europe
Even though United is in 13th place, former goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer believes they can still aim for European spots, including the top four.
“They’re five points off fourth place. After 16 games, they can’t just give up,” Schwarzer said on The Optus Sport Football Podcast.
He stressed that Manchester United has high expectations, no matter where they stand.
“It’s Manchester United—certain goals have to be met. Will Amorim lose his job if he doesn’t reach them? I don’t think so, but they have to perform.”
A Clear Message
Football expert Julien Laurens sees Amorim’s appointment as proof of the club’s ambition for this season.
“If this was just a transition year, they would have kept Ruud van Nistelrooy as the interim manager. Amorim could have waited until summer to take charge,” Laurens noted.
Instead, United wanted him in right away, showing they believe this season can still be great.
“The fact they brought him in now means they’re not ready to throw this season away.”
