The post-mortem study of the late artist Mohbad’s bones has apparently failed to determine the cause of his death, despite months of waiting for the final conclusions of the autopsy report.
This was disclosed on Wednesday, May 15, at a news conference held at the coroner’s investigation in Lagos State by Mohbad‘s family attorney, Wahab Shittu.
Shittu said the coroner was told by the pathologist supervising the autopsy that there had been a lot of decomposition by the time the examination was done.
“The pathologist said the body ought to have been exhumed within 12 hours after it was buried to avoid decomposition. So the summary he is saying is that the cause of death cannot be ascertained, and when you say the cause of death cannot be ascertained, it means it is suspicious, it is not clear, and there is no particular reason,” Shittu told the press.
“He also went further to say that it may be attributed to reactions to certain drugs administered to him before he died. Again, he then qualified that to say he does not know whether it is those drugs that led to his death.” Shittu added.
The inquest has been adjourned until June 11th to allow for additional forensic expert questioning.
