Arsenal suffered a bitter disappointment in their Champions League campaign, exiting the tournament after a defeat to Bayern Munich amidst a jubilant atmosphere at Allianz Arena.
Joshua Kimmich’s authoritative header in the 63rd minute, from Raphael Guerreiro’s delivery, sealed the Germans’ passage to the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory, following a 2-2 draw in the first leg in London.
Despite hosting the first leg at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal felt confident about their chances against a Bayern Munich squad that had struggled domestically and was missing key players Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman due to injury.

In a tense and cautious second leg, witnessed by Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, Gabriel Martinelli had the best opportunity of the first half for the Gunners, but his shot went straight at Manuel Neuer after Jamal Musiala had tested David Raya with a stretching save at the opposite end.
While Harry Kane had minimal involvement in the initial 45 minutes, Neuer was called into action again by Martin Odegaard’s deflected effort, forcing the veteran Bayern Munich goalkeeper to scramble across his line.
Given the high stakes, clear-cut opportunities were scarce, but the second half saw increased activity. Leon Goretzka’s header struck the post, and Guerreiro’s follow-up was cleared away by Raya via another post. However, Kimmich’s decisive header ultimately sealed Arsenal’s fate, prolonging their quest for a maiden Champions League title.
Bayern now advance to face Real Madrid in the semi-finals, following Real’s elimination of Manchester City in a penalty shootout.
Reflecting on the season, England captain Kane, who scored in the first leg at Emirates Stadium, acknowledged the challenges but also recognized reaching the semi-finals as a noteworthy accomplishment. He expressed the team’s determination to embrace the opportunity and strive for Champions League glory.
