The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has launched the Pan African Historical Theatre Festival 2021.
The occasion which is slated for August next year, is a cultural event dedicated to enhance the ideas of Pan-Africanism and the development of the African continent.
The theme for next year’s Panafest will be “Securing the African Family: Our Soul, Our Health, Our Wealth.”
CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman who represented the honorable Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture commended the Panafest foundation and its partners for complementing government’s effort in forging the spirit of Africanism over the years.

Mr. Agyeman also assured Panafest foundation of government’s commitment to the journey although the year has been quite difficult for the tourism industry, “as we battle against the covid-19 pandemic.”
He believes the pandemic has afforded lessons that could be taken into the program come 2021 and the launching of “beyond the year of return pillars” in a few weeks it will also open up a discussion on how we could unite as a big African family”.

Omanhen of the Oguaa traditional area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II called on Africans and people of African descent as well as all persons committed to the well-being of Africans on the continent and in the diaspora to participate in year’s Panafest celebration.
“We are calling on all Africans wherever they find themselves to be part of next year’s Panafest celebration. Let’s come together and make a statement to the whole world that Africans’ life matters.”
Pan African Historical Theatre Festival, Panafest, was mooted by the late Efua Surtherland in the Mid-1980s as a cultural vehicle for bringing Africans on the continent and in the diaspora together around the issues raised by slavery that remain suppressed.
