Okyeame Kwame, a Ghanaian musician, has clarified that he has not been officially appointed to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee.
He has stated that he is not aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) politically.
Okyeame Kwame announced in a press release dated February 24, 2024, that he had not received payment for this assignment.
“I wish to reassure my respected following and reiterate that I remain non-partisan and apolitical, as I have been throughout my entire career. I have not been paid by H.E. The Vice President’s campaign team to be a member of the committee for the arts and tourism manifesto nor have I officially been invited on my terms as non-partisan participant,” he noted.
Kwame stated that he is willing to collaborate with any political party that wants to utilize his expertise in the creative industry.
“When it comes to contributing policy opinion towards the advancement of the Arts and Culture in Ghana, I am open to all political or ideological persuasions that may want me to lend my knowledge to develop this industry,” he stated.

The “Made in Ghana” hitmaker claims that after 26 years, he is still the epitome of a professional.
Committed to serving Ghana in every area of expertise, with full dedication and passion. Everyone is welcome, as he emphasized his non-partisan stance and commitment to supporting products made in Ghana.
But he did thank Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the vice president and symbol of the New Patriotic Party, for having faith in his abilities.
The press release expresses gratitude to the Vice President’s Campaign Team for considering the artist’s experience and intellect worthy of recognition.
“That said, in utmost humility, I wish to express my profound appreciation to His Excellency the Vice President’s Campaign Team, for thinking my experience and intellect is worthy enough for consideration,” the press release states.
Okyeame Kwame has been selected as one of the fifteen individuals on the New Patriotic Party’s Manifesto Committee for tourism, arts, and culture.
Former minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Catherine Abelema Afeku, Dr. Ama Boafo-Arthur, Prof. Issahatu Adam, the founder of the Glitz Style Awards, Claudia Lumor, and actor Prince David Osei are among the members.
Among the others are Nana Yaw Manteaw, Yaa Pokua Baiden, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu (KOKA), and Festus Frimpong Gyebi, along with Eric Owusu Akreso, Dr. Ackah Kwame Nyameke, and Radia Adama Saani.
A sub-committee on tourism, arts, and culture has been established within the party, with Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante from the National Film Authority (NFA) and Akwasi Agyemang from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) serving as chair and CEO, respectively.
