It was pure joy for the management and students of Doribabs School Complex when the school was adjudged the Overall Best Basic School in the Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) district for the 2021 BECE.
Doribabs took six awards at the 66th Independence Day Parade held at Ayeldo in the AAK district located in the Central Region.
Ms. Wendy Adjoa Essuman, an immediate past student of the school and currently a student of Wesley Girls’ High School in Cape Coast, won the 2021 award for the girl’s category while Desmond Essel took the boys’ category and the overall best student with a raw score of three thousand and twenty-eight and currently a student of Presec, Legon.
For the Best B.E.C.E private school category, Doribabs School Complex emerged as the winner while Nana Appiah Memorial and Asebu Oxford Complex placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The overall best school in the district in the 2021 BECE also went for Doribabs School Complex with Mrs. Doris Baaba Simpson, the Proprietress of the school receiving a special award for immense contribution towards the improvement of education in the District.
The awardees were given certificates, medals, cash, and trophies for their outstanding performance in the district.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS, Mrs. Joyce Frimpong, daughter of the Proprietress of Doribabs School Complex said the laurels being achieved by the students of the school and also the school can be attributed to the grace of God through perseverance and hard work despite some challenges the school faces.
She said the school would continue to give a solid foundation based on moral and high disciplinary values to its pupils and students.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive of Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, Mr. Willyevans Obiri-Awuah says Abura Asebu Kwamankese must rise and unite with synergy, develop and create employment for its teeming youth.
Speaking on the theme: “our unity, our strength, our purpose at the 66th Independence Day parade at Ayeldo, he implored the chiefs to ensure that there are no chieftaincy disputes which will affect the development of the district.
“Our unity will give us the strength to do more and meet our purpose and for this to happen, we need to unite with the government to give him the strength to accomplish more for the progress of the country. Nation-building is a collective responsibility and acts at the heart of the state’s aspirations. It is the human resource of our country. Whether we achieve much or lesser in the country will depend on our collective commitment and targeted efforts towards the achievement of the set of aspirations” he continued.
To him, the development of the district will also require indigenes to develop their individual companies, businesses, and institutions that are within the district.
He further called on the chiefs to collectively help to fight illegal mining (Galamsey) as the menace of such activities could hamper their development.
