The National Independence Celebration Planning Committee in collaboration with the Central Regional Coordinating Council has officially launched the 65th Independence Day celebrations scheduled to be held in cape coast.

The 10-day national event which will be held in the Central Region for the first time is under the theme, ‘working together, bouncing back better’.

Addressing the media during the launch, the chairman of the planning committee, Laud Commey, explained that the theme was chosen to urge Ghanaians to work together, to recover from the effects of the covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, it is the president’s vision to ensure the country’s economy is recovered beyond its stance before the pandemic.

The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan, expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo for choosing the Central Region for the 65th independence celebrations. She indicated the activities will help boost the region’s economy.

“On behalf of the people of the Central Region, we are so grateful to the president Nana Akufo Addo for selecting the central region to host this year’s independence celebrations because the benefits of the celebration in cape coast are enormous. We are already contributing to the local economy” she noted.

On his part, President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII pledged the full support and co-operation of the chiefs in the region.
