António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), met with Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana.
The two personalities discussed a broad variety of topics.
“Secretary-General António Guterres (right) meets with Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana,” the Ghana UN said on Wednesday, January 19.
Ghana recently joined the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Ghana, together with Albania, Brazil, Gabon, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), participated in a flag ceremony to mark the beginning of their membership in the United Nations Security Council for the period 2022 to 2023 on Tuesday, 4th January, 2022.”
The short ceremony was held at the Security Council’s Media Stakeout Area.
Ambassador Harold A. Agyeman, Ghana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, emphasized in his comments that Ghana would endeavor to collaborate with other Council members.
To accomplish the SDGs, it is necessary to enhance international peace and security, especially via effective peacekeeping. Africa, he said, would remain Ghana’s first focus.
