The national communications authority has announced measures to be taken to mitigate long queues and congestion at various customer service care centers of mobile network operators (MNO) for the SIM card re-registration exercise.
The NCA stated in a press release sighted by ATLFMNEWS on January 7 that it had deployed additional registration point to commensurate with the subscriber number of each MNO to ease congestion.
In this regard outlets such as distributor shops, retail centres and other agent touch points across the country are being used for the SIM registration exercise.
The national communications authority began a nationwide exercise on October 1, 2021 to help users of various networks in the country to re-register their SIM cards with their Ghana Card.
This exercise according to the government is aimed at riding the country’s cyber space of fraudsters, monitor and track down persons who use their phones for criminal activities.
The authority assured that it understands the frustrations and inconvenience of customers in their bid to complete the second stage of the SIM card registration process.
“As a result the NCA has been working assiduously with Mobile Network Operators and the SIM Card registration application developer to improve the registration process and mitigate the current challenges,” the statement said.
The NCA further encouraged the general public to complete the first process before moving to the centres to take their biometric data and be patient as these measures will be rapidly implemented to ease the re-registration process.
