The Pro-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Obeng Mireku has urged all fresh graduates to demonstrate excellence as they take steps into the corporate world.
Prof Obeng Mireku gave this advice at the 1st session of the 54th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast which was held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at the university.
He emphasized saying “we expect you to prove to the world that, you are products of the university that is ranked number one globally in research influence.”
The ceremony was held for graduands from the College of Humanities and Legal Studies which encompasses the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Business, and the Faculty of Law.
Addressing the graduands, he encouraged all to, through their attitudes, raise high the flag of their alma mater, the University of Choice.
“I have no doubt that the positive attitudes and the quality of training you have acquired here in pursuit of your various programs will guarantee your success in all your endeavours including your professional journeys. You should build a credible image for yourselves and your alma mater through diligence, hard work, humility, truthfulness, and exemplary character.” He said
Speaking on the issue of land encroachment on the university lands, Prof. Mireku expressed dismay at the practice which he explained has assumed an alarming proportion thereby posing a serious threat to the future expansion of the university.
He, therefore, appealed to all stakeholders, especially the traditional rulers of cape coast to help nip the canker.

The Valedictorian, Linda Appiah who graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a CGPA of 3.908, indicated in her valedictory speech that she owed her success to God and to her diligence in studies.
She also implored all to take advance of scholarship programs as she was herself a beneficiary of the Akua Akwanya foundation.
