The chief of Amamoma in Cape Coast Metropolis, Nana Yartel III on Thursday begun a demolishing exercise along the pavements of roads in Amamoma and its surroundings to ensure the safety of people of his township.
The pavement constructed along the road from the North Campus of the University through to Amamoma and Ayensudo has been encroached by local businessmen and women and as a result, pedestrians compete with vehicles on the road.
Speaking with ATL FM NEWS during the demolishing exercise, Nana Yartel III said the exercise has become necessary to ensure the people of his township and especially the students of the University of Cape Coast have safety in using the road in the town.
He further indicated that he had given the encroachers a three-week notice to vacate the area, hence the exercise.
Nana Yartel III said the exercise will continue until no one is found using the pavement for their businesses.
At the time of ATLFMNEWS visit during the exercise, the chief together with his elders were seen removing metal pillars and structures along the pavement at the science taxi station.
However, the same exercise had taken place within the Amamoma town, Ayensudo, and its surroundings.
