Stanbic Bank Ghana has honored Police Constable Prince Fourdjour for demonstrating the greatest degree of honesty and integrity in an era when virtues and values have become rare.
On Friday, July 2, at about 5:00 p.m., Constable Prince Fourdjour saw GH2,000 being disbursed at a Stanbic Bank ATM at the Abeka Total Fuel Station without a receiver present to accept the money.
Constable Fourdjour retrieved the cash and reported it to his supervisor, Chief Superintendent Theodore Hlormenu, Commander of the National Headquarters SWAT. Hlormenu subsequently arranged for the money to be returned to Stanbic Bank.
Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Communications at Stanbic Bank, stated during a brief ceremony at the Ghana Police Headquarters in Accra: “It is important that we honor such behaviors that personify what the Police stands for.” It demonstrates how we should conduct our lives as a nation in many ways, and we are here to honor Constable Prince Fourdjour for the ideals he symbolizes and the values of the Police.”
Stanbic Bank gave a cheque for GH4,000 as seed money for a Stanbic Investment Management Services (SIMS) investment account, as well as a current account with a starting amount of GH1,000 and a GH1,000 gift voucher.
On his part, Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh praised Constable Prince Fourdjour for exemplifying what the Ghana Police Service’s slogan really means and expressed gratitude to Stanbic Bank for honoring him.
“As the Chief of Police in Ghana, I am very happy to see this act by one of my men. For an institution whose motto is ‘Service with Integrity, Constable Fourdjour has really shown integrity. Integrity is what you do when no one is watching and that is exactly what he did. Let me also thank Stanbic Bank, on behalf of the Police, for recognizing that when someone does a good thing, he/she deserves to be commended,” Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh said.
Additionally, the IGP urged all police personnel to remember the institution’s motto at all times while doing their jobs and living their lives.
He added: “To the men and women of the Ghana Police, this is a sign that it is not all about the uniform you wear but you are also men and women of integrity.”
To demonstrate his continued gratitude for Constable Prince Fordjour’s behavior and to compliment Stanbic Bank’s generosity, the IGP presented Constable Fourdjour with a GH5,000 cash award.
Constable Prince Fourdjour, clearly overjoyed, expressed thanks to Stanbic Bank and the Ghana Police Service for the distinction and honor bestowed upon him.
“I feel amazing and overwhelmed by what Stanbic Bank and the Police Administration have done and I thank them for what they have done. I never dreamt of anything like this happening to me at this moment and I am truly grateful to them.”
