Hassan Tampuli, the he Deputy Transport Minister-designate, has refuted suggestions that his appointment is a step down from his previous status as CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Some Ghanaians believe his previous job was more important than the one he now holds.
Mr. Tampuli, on the other hand, sees his current job as a call to duty to support the country’s growth and has characterized it as a “elevation.”
He thus shared his willingness and intention to participate in President Akufo-Addo’s second-term administration.
“Depending on where you sit or stand, you may see the cup as half full or half empty, so whatever the case might be, I believe it is a call to duty. I spent time at the National Petroleum Authority, and I think the greatest judge of my legacy there will be posterity. It’s time to move on and take on new obligations. Mr. President is the coach, and he will determine who goes where at any given time. I believe he is smarter, and there is no question that I was the head of the agency at NPA, but I reported to a deputy minister in charge of petroleum at the Energy Ministry before reporting to the minister himself. As a result, being considered a deputy minister is an honor for me, and I am grateful to the President for that.”
Mr. Tampuli also urged his fellow nominees to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors in assisting their ministers in carrying out the President’s vision.
Mr. Tampuli also spoke on the President’s decision to delegate him to the Transport Ministry rather than the Energy Ministry, which has oversight authority for his former department (NPA), saying that the decision was well-thought-out.

“… As I previously said, I believe the President has a system in place to analyze both of us. As a result, the Monitoring and Evaluation unit does extensive research on all of us and is able to advise him of our strengths and weaknesses.”
“So I believe that the decision to send me to the Ministry of Transportation was well-considered, and I believe that I will contribute significantly to the Minister, the President, and the whole government.”
On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, Mr. Tampuli made these remarks on Citi TV’s current affairs show, The Point of View.
