According to Superintendent Abdulai Mumuni, Zenu Athadeka, Kpone-Katamanso Commander of the Ghana Police, one man has been reported dead and others are missing following the Santoor flood on Sunday.
Mr. Bernard Asamoah, a 43-year-old former Security officer at the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA) in Tema, was named as the deceased, according to him.
The corpse was taken to the Tema General Hospital for preservation, he added.
After a heavy downpour on Sunday, the West Jordan and Agbeshi Laryea Communities at Santoor in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region were flooded.
According to preliminary investigations, about seven men attempted to cross the main bridge connecting Agbeshi Laryea and West Jordan communities in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality, but were unable to do so due to the strong flood.
Supt Mumuni mentioned that the police had increased their hunt for the others who had gone missing after the rains.

As the rainy season approached, he advised the officials to dredge the drains to save lives and land.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Samuel Abrey, Assembly Member for the Santoor Electoral Region, attributed the floods on a faulty drainage system and urged authorities to take urgent action.
He said that members of the group went on the lookout for the others who were thought to have been washed away.
