Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Big Akwes has publicly apologized to singer Cina Soul after making alarming remarks about her during a segment on Bryt TV. His comments, made during the “Kiss, Marry, Kill” game, sparked widespread outrage.
When asked to choose between actress Vivian Jill and Cina Soul, Big Akwes stated he would “marry Vivian Jill” but shockingly added that he would “kill Cina Soul.” He elaborated with graphic details, claiming he would use a “magic mirror to summon her, stab her with a knife, and drink her blood.” This violent rhetoric alarmed viewers, prompting condemnation from the public and civil society.

On July 1, 2025, Cina Soul, whose real name is Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome, took to social media to express her concern, tagging the Ghana Police Service and the Minister of Communications. She wrote:
“I’m deeply unsettled by this. I initially chose not to respond to earlier comments because I do not wish to be associated with this individual, but I now feel genuinely threatened. It is crucial we take a firm stance against such dangerous rhetoric on our TV and radio platforms. We must not normalize hate.”
Her post quickly gained traction, with many criticizing both Big Akwes and Bryt TV for allowing such language to air.
In response to the backlash, Bryt TV invited Big Akwes back on air to clarify his statements. He issued a public apology, insisting his comments were meant for entertainment and not to be taken seriously.
“This was meant purely for entertainment purposes; I never intended to harm her. I learned that her mother was scared by what I said, and for that, I’m truly sorry. If my words made anyone believe I would harm Cina Soul, that was not my intention at all. I sincerely apologize if my comments caused panic for her, her family, or friends,” Big Akwes said.

We apologize to singer @cina_soul and our audience for any unintended offense caused during the ‘Kiss, Marry, Kill’ segment. We remain committed to upholding respect and responsibility in our content.”
The incident has reignited conversations about responsible media practices and accountability in the entertainment industry.
