According to Porro, the Aussie boss has created a strong and united dressing room. “It would be good for the dressing room if he stayed,” he said. “He’s built a solid group, and coaches need time. Things didn’t go great in the league, but he delivered a trophy. That matters too.” Porro hinted that experienced voices in the locker room understand how valuable that achievement is, even with the rough league run.

Porro didn’t shy away from admitting that the rumors about Postecoglou being sacked were hard to ignore. “I’m not going to lie it got to me. I’m very close to him,” he explained. “He’s played a huge role in helping me play my best football over the past two years. Things in football don’t always go the way you want, but I can say that the team is happy with him.”

It’s not just current players showing their support. Ex-defender Ramon Vega voiced his frustration on social media, saying it would be “disrespectful” and a major mistake to sack Postecoglou now. He praised the manager for achieving what others with more experience couldn’t and reminded fans that real progress takes time.
Meanwhile, former striker Robbie Keane echoed similar thoughts on talkSPORT. “Sure, the league form was rough, but they won a trophy. That’s what it’s all about,” he said. “Ange got a lot of stick, but he delivered. Now it’s time to back him and give him the time he deserves.”
