Manchester City Moves Closer to Champions League Spot

Kevin De Bruyne’s final home game at the Etihad ended in victory as Manchester City secured a vital 3-1 win over Bournemouth to boost their Champions League hopes. While fans came to see De Bruyne’s Etihad farewell, it was Omar Marmoush who grabbed the spotlight early on. In the 14th minute, Marmoush fired in a sensational strike that swerved mid-air and clipped the post on its way into the net — a definite contender for goal of the season.

Missed Chances and Key Goals

Despite the early brilliance, there were moments of frustration. De Bruyne missed a golden opportunity when he somehow struck the crossbar with an open goal in front of him. At the other end, Evanilson hit the post as Bournemouth pushed for an equalizer. But City responded with composure, and Bernardo Silva added a second goal before halftime to ease nerves around the stadium. Nico Gonzalez sealed the deal late in the game with an 89th-minute strike, though Daniel Jebbison managed a late consolation goal for the visitors.

Red Cards and Tensions Rise

The second half turned chaotic for a while, with both teams reduced to 10 men. Mateo Kovacic was shown red in the 67th minute for pulling back Evanilson in a clear goal-scoring situation, which led Pep Guardiola to take off De Bruyne early from his farewell appearance. Just six minutes later, Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook was also dismissed after a reckless challenge on Gonzalez.

City Back on Track After FA Cup Loss

The win was a welcome rebound for Manchester City after their disappointing FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace over the weekend. The three points move them up to third in the Premier League table, and a draw at Fulham should be enough to secure a top-five finish and Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s European hopes are officially over.

Eze Stars Again for Palace

In other action, Crystal Palace continued their strong form with a 4-2 win over Wolves. Eberechi Eze came off the bench to score again, following up on his FA Cup final winner against City. Despite Wolves briefly fighting back, Eze’s second-half goal sealed a memorable night at Selhurst Park.
