Ratcliffe’s Thoughts on Man Utd’s Players and What’s Next

Man United’s co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, was pretty blunt, saying some of the team aren’t good enough, and others get paid too much. Speaking with the BBC, he said fixing the team will take time and admitted they’ve messed up a few times already. Ratcliffe’s Honest Verdict on Man Utd Signings.

Ratcliffe, who started running the football side of things last February, name-dropped a few players like Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Casemiro, plus Jadon Sancho and Antony, who are out on loan right now. He pointed out that the club is still dealing with bad calls from ages ago and now has to fix them.

We got these issues from the past, and we just have to deal with them, Ratcliffe said. He also mentioned how much Sancho’s loan is costing them, saying, We’re paying half his wages for Sancho, who’s now at Chelsea – that’s £17 million we need to find if we want to buy him back in the summer.

When asked if he thinks some players just aren’t good enough for United, Ratcliffe said, Yeah, some aren’t good enough, and others probably earn too much. It’ll take time to get a team that we’re fully in charge of.

Man United’s Changing

Ratcliffe said Man United is changing, moving away from old mistakes and trying to get better. He said the squad has good players, praising Bruno Fernandes as a great footballer and important to the team.

United is currently 14th in the Premier League and finished eighth last season. But they did win the FA Cup. At first, the club stuck with Erik ten Hag as manager, but then he was later fired in October and replaced by Ruben Amorim. Ratcliffe admitted that keeping Ten Hag and hiring Dan Ashworth as sporting director were the wrong moves.

“Yeah, keeping Erik ten Hag and hiring Dan Ashworth were mistakes,” Ratcliffe said. “There were reasons, but still, they were mistakes. I own that and I am sorry about it. Ratcliffe’s Honest Verdict on Man Utd Signings.

Sticking with Amorim, Even Though Things Are Tough

Even though United isn’t doing great under Ruben Amorim, who has lost eight out of 17 league games and only won five, Ratcliffe says he believes in him.

“Looking at who Ruben has available, he’s doing a good job,” Ratcliffe said. “He’s a great manager, and he’ll be here for a while.” Ratcliffe’s Honest Verdict on Man Utd Signings.

Fans Protesting and Money Stuff

Ratcliffe’s comments came after thousands of Man United fans protested against the club’s owners before their 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford. They were chanting against Ratcliffe because they were mad about ticket prices going up mid-season, costing £66 per match. The club also said they’re planning to cut up to 200 jobs, after cutting 250 jobs last summer.

Ratcliffe said these choices were not nice but needed to keep the club stable financially. He said, “The club runs out of money at Christmas if we don’t do these things.”

Aiming to Win the Premier League by 2028

Even with the current problems, Ratcliffe is still hopeful. He told fans that Amorim would have money to spend this summer, depending on who they sell.

“Winning the league by 2028, the club’s 150th anniversary, is doable,” he said. He also said that in three years, United should be much stronger and could even become the most profitable club in the world.
