Global remittance platform Taptap Send has teamed up with the Manhyia Palace to bolster cultural preservation and drive developmental projects in the Ashanti Region.

The strategic partnership, announced on January 24, 2025, aims to remove fees on remittances directed toward the Palace’s key initiatives, providing an opportunity for the Asante diaspora to directly contribute to impactful causes.

Darryl Mawutor Abraham, Taptap Send’s Growth Director, led a delegation to the Manhyia Palace, where they met with the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Accompanied by Otumfuo Mamesenehene Nana Barima Osei Kwadwo II, the discussions centered on leveraging remittance technology to support the Kingdom’s development agenda.

Fee-Free Transfers for Cultural and Development Projects

Taptap Send’s latest initiative will allow fee-free remittances to support projects such as education, infrastructure development, and cultural preservation.

A notable feature of this partnership is the launch of Taptap Send’s new ‘Charities’ platform, which allows customers to directly fund curated projects.

The Palace’s “Heal Komfo” project, aimed at improving healthcare delivery, is among the first listed, ensuring transparency and direct impact.

“We are honored to collaborate with the Manhyia Palace to make it easier for the diaspora to contribute to initiatives that matter,” said Mr. Abraham.

“This partnership is a testament to how financial technology can eliminate barriers and drive meaningful change for underserved communities.”

Asantehene Commends Initiative

The Asantehene lauded the partnership as a critical step in connecting the global Asante diaspora with their roots.

“This initiative strengthens the bond between the Asante Kingdom and our people abroad. It also highlights how technology can empower us to preserve our heritage while driving development,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated.

Supporting Healthcare and Community Development

In addition to the remittance partnership, Taptap Send demonstrated its commitment to impactful community support by donating GH¢150,000 to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The contribution will enhance healthcare services in the region, aligning with the company’s broader mission of fostering sustainable development.

Fintech for Social Good

Taptap Send’s focus on community-led initiatives reinforces its position as a socially responsible fintech leader.

By prioritizing affordability, transparency, and user experience, the company has become a trusted platform for diaspora communities looking to make a difference back home.

As global remittance flows are projected to exceed $800 billion in 2025, this collaboration between Taptap Send and the Manhyia Palace underscores the transformative power of financial technology in promoting cultural preservation and community development.

This partnership not only strengthens Taptap Send’s reputation as a fintech innovator but also sets a precedent for businesses aligning with cultural institutions to drive meaningful change.
