The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has announced that the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released by December 29, 2024.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, December 24, Dr. Adutwum disclosed that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is finalizing the marking process and is committed to ensuring the WASSCE results are published on time.

He commended WAEC staff for their dedication, noting that they are working through the festive season to meet the deadline.

“The government recently provided an additional GH₵25 million to WAEC to boost its operational efficiency and ensure the smooth running of the process,” Dr. Adutwum revealed.

According to the minister, approximately 50% of the objective marking has already been completed, and WAEC is on track to meet its targets. He indicated that provisional results are expected to be released on December 28 or 29, with the final publication scheduled for January 2024.

Dr. Adutwum also emphasized the government’s efforts to support WAEC in resolving financial challenges, enabling the council to focus on accurate marking and timely releases. He described this year’s examination process as robust and transparent, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining the credibility of the education system.

The minister urged candidates and stakeholders to remain patient as WAEC works diligently to complete the process.
