The Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, and Ghana Immigration Service have announced job openings for those who showed interest and applied to work for these services in 2021.

Starting today (Wednesday, August 7, 2024), the Ghana Police Service will recruit interested and eligible Ghanaians.

There are two available categories: General Duty Recruits and Graduate General Duties. Applicants for the 2021 recruitment exercise must submit their information, including full name, date of birth, place of birth, reference number, current phone number, email address, previous screening center, and qualifications, to recruitment@police.gov.gh by Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Applicants must fulfill many general requirements: they must be Ghanaian by birth, of good character, have no criminal record, and have not been fired from any public office or other profession. Additionally, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 28, physically and medically healthy, and have at least five passes in SSCE/WASSCE, including Mathematics and English, as on December 1, 2021. Males must be at least 5’8″ tall, while females must be at least 5’4″ tall.

The Ghana Immigration Service is also giving job opportunities to those who applied in 2021. Interested applicants should provide identical information as requested by the Police Service to recruitment@immigration.gov.gh by the same deadline. Applicants must fulfill the Immigration Service’s general standards, which include age, character, and academic qualifications.

The Ghana Prisons Service has posted job vacancies for General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen Recruits, Sportsmen/Women Recruits, General Duty Graduates, and Graduate Professionals. Applicants starting in 2021 should submit their information to recruitment@ghanaprisons.gov.gh.

The general requirements include being a Ghanaian by birth, of good character, without a criminal record, not dismissed from public service, and meeting specific height requirements (5 feet 6 inches for males and 5 feet 2 inches for females). The age restriction varies slightly, with a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 33 years, with the exception of athletes and women, who must be between 18 and 25.

Successful applicants for all three services will be called to proceed to the next level, which involves body selection, document inspection, medical tests, and extensive background investigations. Applicants will face the costs of the vetting and medical screening procedure, as well as their own transportation, food, and lodging during the recruiting exercise.

The Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, and Ghana Immigration Service all highlight that they are equal opportunity employers and caution against dealing with middlemen or agents, stating that any engagement in such activities is at the applicant’s own risk and may result in arrest and prosecution.

The deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Applicants should confirm that all supplied information is correct and that certificates are genuine. No physical application forms will be accepted.

The recruitment notices were published separately in the August 7, 2024 edition of the Daily Graphic.
