The day two of the Betpawa Premier League witnessed a lot of surprising results and actions from the various league centers.

In an electrifying showdown at Coronation Park on Matchday Two, Boafoakwa Tano continued their unbeaten streak, defeating Real Temale United. Captains from both sides showcased their prowess, netting goals. However, the match’s turning point came in the 84th minute when new signing Steven Owusu calmly converted a late penalty, sealing a dramatic victory for Boafoakwa Tano. The home crowd erupted in celebration as their team secured a hard-fought 2-1 win, cementing their early-season dominance.

BIBIANI GOLD STARS VS ASANTE KOTOKO

In a thrilling match at Duns Park, Bibiani Gold Stars faced Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a highly anticipated clash. The first half proved to be a cagey encounter, with both teams failing to break the deadlock. However, in the 65th minute, Prince Owusu of Bibiani Gold Stars shattered the silence with a clinical finish. Asante Kotoko swiftly responded with an equalizer, but the drama continued when Bibiani Gold Stars regained the lead in the 73rd minute. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Bibiani Gold Stars, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

NATIONS FC VS SAMARTEX

Recovering from their matchday 1 setback, Nations Fc secured a convincing 2- 0 victory over Samartex in their home fixture. The first half saw Nations Fc dominate and their efforts were rewarded as Barimah Baah netted their maiden top-flight goal in the 20th minute. Amidou, the Ivorian midfielder, sealed the win in the 63rd minute with a clinical strike. Nations Fc displayed resilience and control, clinching a well- deserved victory that thrilled their fans and marked a positive turnaround in their campaign.

KARELA UNITED VS BREKUM CHELSEA

Karela United recorded their first win of the new league season on Sunday afternoon when the team defeated Berekum Chelsea 3 – 1. Evans Adomako Wiredu shone for the home team, scoring a brilliant goal in the 19th minute and adding another in the second half to complete a brace. George Amanoo contributed to Karela’s success with a third goal, while Stephen Amakona netted a consoling goal for Brekum Chelsea. Karela United’s strong performance delighted their fans and secured them a well-deserved victory.

HEARTS OF OAK VS NSOATREMAN FC

In a fiercely contested match at the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Hearts of Oak triumphed over Nsoatreman FC with a narrow 1-0 victory. The game kicked off with high intensity, and the home team wasted no time as Wanet found the net just four minutes into the match. Despite gaining a numerical advantage when an Nsoatreman midfielder received a red card in the 34th minute, Accra Hearts of Oak couldn’t capitalize further. Nevertheless, Wanet’s lone goal secured them the hard-fought victory they needed.

HEARTS OF LIONS VS GREAT OLYMPICS

In their first home game at the WAFA Park, Hearts of Lions faced off against Great Olympics in a match that saw cautious play from both sides. Neither team managed to dominate, as it appeared they were content with sharing the points. The game ended in a stalemate, with neither side able to break the deadlock. While it wasn’t a victory for either team, Hearts of Lions had reason to be encouraged by their performance in front of their home fans.

BECHEM UNITED VS DREAMS SC

Bechem United secured their first victory of the 2023/2024 season with a narrow 1-0 win over Dreams SC. The Nana Fosu Gyebour Park proved to be a fortress for Bismark Kobi Mensah’s side, as they capitalized on their home advantage. The match remained goalless in the first half, but midfielder Seth Osei Kwadwo broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, securing the crucial win for Bechem United and leaving the Dreams SC fans disappointed.

ADUANA STARS VS MEDEAMA

The initial half of the match showcased a moderate performance from both Aduana Stars and Medeama. However, the second half witnessed a significant increase in intensity. The defending champions of the Premier League, Medeama, struggled to create scoring opportunities. Captain Bright Adjei broke the deadlock for the home team, slotting in a goal from close range just four minutes into the second half due to a defensive error. With five minutes remaining, Gabriel Mensah added a second goal, securing all three points for the Fire Club, Aduana and ensuring a perfect start to their home campaign at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium.

ACCRA LIONS VS LEGON CITIES

The Red Bull Arena saw a fascinating encounter between Accra Lions and Legon City. Accra Lions enjoyed an early advantage as Botchway’s header found the net in the 14th minute. Although the visiting team came close, the crossbar denied Samuel Armah’s attempt for Legon Cities. Accra Lions entered halftime with a narrow lead, hungry for more. Legon Cities, however, posed a challenge, compelling Lions’ goalkeeper Daniel Afful to make two impressive saves. Tempers flared as Legon Cities coach Paa Kwesi Fabin was sent off for disputing with officials. The lone goal from Botchway secured the victory for Accra Lions.
