After defeating Hasaacas Ladies in a penalty shootout on May 12, Ampem Darkoa Ladies were declared the winners of the Malta Guinness Ghana Women’s Premier League.
Success Ameyaa’s failure in the shootout allowed the Techiman-based team to duplicate their heroics from the previous season and seal a 5-3 victory after the game was tied at one after regulation.
Both sides played cautiously and with little activity in the first half as they attempted to neutralize one another, which resulted in a scoreless game.
Following the break, Doris Boaduwaa headed in Fiduos Yakubu’s cross from a corner kick in the 60th minute to give the Sekondi-based team the lead.

The goal was scored as part of a goal streak the Hasmal Ladies had at the start of the game’s second half.
As they managed the game’s pace and eliminated Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ danger, Yusif Basigi’s team appeared destined to win in regulation time.
Grace Banwaa made a mistake, and Linda Eshun saw Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah cleared the ball at the wrong time, giving Nana Mma a chance to equalize in the 84th minute.
Even though both sides made a valiant effort to snag a last-second victory, the game went into overtime with little to show for their efforts.
