Female students at the University of Cape Coast have been given entrepreneurship training to equip them with the needed professional and creative skills to launch their own businesses.
The training formed part of activities to commemorate the women’s week celebration of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) at the University of Cape Coast under the auspices of the office of the NUGS women’s commission.
Students were taken through beading making, wig making, fascinator making, crocheting, bead making, and liquid making lessons among others.
Speaking to ATL FM NEWS on the sidelines, the NUGS women’s Commissioner, Miss Amoanimaa Sarpong Resta indicated that the training session is part of NUGS’ efforts to nurture the skills of young ladies on valuable life skills.
She said it also aimed at helping the female students become self-sufficient even whiles on campus.
“As a woman, things become difficult for you when you are on campus and you don’t have money on you. So we are using this opportunity to teach the ladies how to do some simple handiworks so that they can use that to fend for themselves instead of them engaging in untoward activities.”
She further urged students to endeavor to take part in other programs scheduled for the commemoration of the women’s week celebration.
