The Civil and Local Government Staff Association ,Ghana (CLOGSAG) has requested statistics from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to back its assertions that public sector workers are overpaid.
Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, the Government Statistician, highlighted concerns last week about how personnel in the public sector were usually overpaid.
According to him, public sector workers were paid twice for their production on average.
He stated that whereas public sector workers’ pay were around GH3,420, production in the sector was around GH1,420, less than half their earnings.
In response to Professor Annim’s assertions, CLOGSAG, in a letter signed by its Deputy Executive Secretary, Kojo Krakani, requested that the Government Statistician supply, among other things, indicators and the sample size utilized in the research.
