On Sunday, a fire tender responding to a distress call in Obuasi was involved in an accident, injuring eight firemen on board.
They were called to a fire in the Obuasi neighbourhood of Kyekyewere.
The driver of the fire tender, seemingly oblivious of the construction of a bridge ahead of him, drove onto a pile of chippings, lost control, and crashed into a storey-building.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck somersaulted.
Two of the injured firefighters have subsequently been treated and released.

According to the Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO), Mr Henry Giwah, the remaining six officers are in serious condition.
Mr Giwah stated that the road contractor did not post any warning signs to inform vehicles, particularly at the Obuasi Stadium intersection, where the accident occurred.
