Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka, the former Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢90,000 with two sureties who are Ghanaians having credible Ghana cards, one of whom must be justified with a landed property.
Following an investigation by the Special Prosecutor’s office, Mr Sarfo-Kantaka is facing 26 corruption allegations in connection with a public election.
He has pled not guilty to all of the corruption accusations brought against him by the Special Prosecutor’s office.

Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka, the Juaben constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, was the focus of an investigation after being caught on video in November 2021 accusing assembly members in Juaben of refusing to ratify his candidacy as Municipal Chief Executive despite reportedly bribing them.
The case has been postponed until June 29th for case management.
According to the conclusions of the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka gave each elected member of the Assembly GH5,000.
He is also believed to have given each of the Government selected members GH2,500 to supposedly influence their behavior as voters.
Mr. Sarfo-Kantanka did not receive the requisite number of votes for confirmation as Municipal Chief Executive in the election conducted on September 29, 2021.
He also failed after the President renominated him for the same position on October 12, 2021, and again on November 1, 2021, when the accused failed to get the requisite number of votes.
The assembly now lacks a chief executive, and its residents have petitioned the central government for a new nominee.
