The Central Regional Police Command is urging residents in the region, particularly Cape Coast to be self-security conscious as part of measures to ensure an incident and crime-free 65th Independence Day celebration.
According to the command, the influx of people is likely to cause an increment in crime rate hence the need for residents to be extra vigilant and conscious.
Giving some security tips residents can adopt while during the period, deputy Public Relations officer for the Regional Command, Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie encouraged residents to plan their shopping and not keep large amounts of money on them.
“During these times too, you don’t go to ATMs at odd hours and if you must in the night, do not go alone. Don’t go to ATMs that are in isolation. Be very careful when boarding a car and when you have to do so, check the car numbers” he added.
The police command is also assuring residents that stringent measures will be put in place to ensure safety of residents and revelers.
Residents are also being urged to contact the police in case of unusual happenings in their surroundings.
