The Directorate of Consular and General Services of University of Cape Coast (UCC) has organized a training workshop for security personnel and the Fire Unit of the university.
The 3-day training workshop focused on exposing the participants to the current trend of discharging their duties and mandate within the university and its environs.
The Director of the Directorate of Consular and General Services of UCC, Mrs. Alberta Yaa Graham said the workshop was essential to ensuring the proper management of security issues on campus.
“They are doing their best, not that they are not working but training is very important. If you do not train them and let them know what is really going on in the security section, they will ‘die’, I will say.”
She noted that the training of the personnel which included drills from military training will equip them and sharpen their strength to enable them carry out their duties in ensuring the success of the University’s 60th-anniversary celebration.
She emphasized saying “this year, the university is celebrating its 60th anniversary and with the security, the way they will comport themselves and dress is very key to the successes of the program.”
The Reviewing Officer and Director General of Defense Industries Department, Brigadier General William Agyapong, encouraged the security persons to be assertive in their work.
Some of the participants also expressed satisfaction about the training indicating the training had come in timely.
