The date for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will now be shifted to 3rd January instead of the already known 9th January.
According to sources, the football governing body of Africa, CAF is considering this after Egypt lodged a complain that most of their players play for Egyptian giants, Al Ahly SC who have also qualified to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
According to the Egyptian national team, the date for the Club World Cup which is 3rd to 12th February 2022 clashes with the AFCON tournament which is also slated to commence on 9th January to 6th February.
