The Kaneshie District Court has ordered that popular comedian Funny Face be examined at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
He was refered on Wednesday October 20, 2021.
On Monday night, he was arrested for reportedly threatening specific people on social media.
Born Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, aka Funny Face, launched a social media tirade against several major entertainment figures on Sunday, including Fada Dickson and Bola Ray, and threatened to murder his ex-lover Vanessa.
He also slammed former African Footballer of the Year Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, who was a close ally of his until last year.
However, the threats were so serious that the one-time musician was apprehended at 10:14 p.m. Monday and is being regarded as a “suspect.”
“Due to the history of the suspect, the police shall submit Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng to the court for an order for psychiatric examination, to determine the next line of investigative action,” the police stated on Monday.
“The police is committed to protecting lives with the generous help of the public.”
“We want to assure the public that we shall not take anything for granted in the interest of public safety.”
