The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional branch has suspended its Regional Director of Communications, Kwesi Dawood, following accusations that he repeatedly raped his adolescent daughter.
The NDC’s Central Regional Secretary, Kojo Quansah, said that Mr. Dawood’s behavior, who is on the run, violated the party’s principles.
“The Functional Executive Committee took that decision at our SEC meeting that they have suspended Kwasy Dawood, and they are referring him to the disciplinary committee for the necessary action.”
“Based on what he has done, SEC met and after detailed discussion, [decided] it is part of anti-party conduct and there is the need for us to suspend him,” Mr. Quansah said to Citi News.
Mr. Dawood’s sexual relationship with his daughter is alleged to have resulted in her getting pregnant.
Following that, he is accused of forcing her to undergo an abortion with the assistance of a quack doctor.
The accusations came to light after his daughter chose to tell her housemaster at school about what she was going through.
The victim’s mother immediately filed a complaint with the Central Regional Police Command.
