The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) preparatory committee has submitted its report to President John Dramani Mahama.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Chairman of the Committee, revealed that the team received 1,493 calls and 2,417 complaints regarding suspected looting of state funds and properties. In its report to the President, the Committee presented 230 cases that underwent thorough analysis.
During a brief handing-over ceremony at the Presidency on February 10, Mr. Ablakwa stated that due to the committee’s diligent efforts, various parcels of land, vehicles owned by the state, and official government properties have been reclaimed.
Mr. Ablakwa estimated that if the retrieval of the misappropriated funds and properties is successful, the state could recover up to 20.49 billion US dollars.
The President has now handed over the report to the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Akurutinga Ayine.
It is anticipated that the Attorney-General will promptly initiate investigations into the matters highlighted by the Committee.
This committee was established in December 2024 by then-President-elect, John Mahama.
The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) preparatory committee is made up of; former Auditor-General, Daniel Yao Domelevo, retired Commissioner of Police, Nathan Kofi Boakye, investigative journalist, Raymond Archer and private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu.
