Energy Minister John Jinapor has assured the public that Ghana’s electricity supply remains stable, dismissing claims that the country has returned to load shedding and stating that power generation levels are adequate to meet national demand.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Friday, January 30, the Minister disclosed that he had held a high-level meeting with heads of major institutions in the power sector to assess the overall performance of the electricity supply system across the country.
He emphasized that Ghana has operated without load shedding for over ten months and clarified that there is no shortfall in power generation capacity.
While acknowledging complaints of recurring power outages in certain areas of Accra and Kumasi, Mr Jinapor explained that these disruptions are linked to technical and operational issues rather than a lack of available power.
To address the situation, he said he has directed the appropriate agencies to present an urgent, clearly defined action plan with specific timelines to resolve the faults and stabilise supply in the affected communities.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s determination to provide consistent and reliable electricity nationwide, assuring citizens that concrete measures are underway to swiftly correct the challenges identified.
