The Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations has called on religious leaders across Ghana to formally communicate any prophecies or spiritual insights of national relevance to the government.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 10, on behalf of President John Mahama, Presidential Envoy Elvis Afriyie Ankra expressed gratitude to churches and other religious organizations for their “unwavering spiritual support, intercessory prayers, and leadership in promoting peace, moral integrity, and national unity.”
“The role of faith leaders in Ghana’s spiritual and civic life remains indispensable,” the statement read. “Any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature, especially those with implications for high-profile political leaders, governance, national security, or public stability, should be formally relayed to the Office of the Presidential Envoy for urgent review and appropriate escalation.”
Speaking in an interview with Peace FM, Mr. Afriyie Ankra clarified that the directive was not aimed at stifling prophecy but ensuring that sensitive revelations with security implications follow the right channels.
“This is not to stop pastors from prophesying,” he said. “It is to make sure that sensitive and security matters regarding the nation are channeled appropriately so they can be addressed responsibly.”
He stressed that the government would not allocate funds to any religious leader seeking payment in exchange for prophetic guidance. “The spirit of God is not sold,” he said. “No budget will be allocated to any pastor who requires money for direction concerning any prophecy.”
The statement also appealed for intensified prayers following the recent helicopter crash that claimed the lives of government officials, military personnel, and members of the ruling NDC party.
It urged prayers for “the President of the Republic, the Government and all State institutions, the bereaved families, and the entire nation of Ghana,” reaffirming the government’s commitment to partnership and shared spiritual responsibility for peace and prosperity.
