The latest test build of Windows 11 introduces a new feature that allows users to reposition hardware indicator pop-ups for volume and screen brightness. This customization option is part of a new Dev Channel build, which also includes a revamped Recall homepage displaying the top three apps and websites used in the past 24 hours.
Currently, indicators for volume, brightness, and airplane mode appear at the bottom center of the screen. With the new build, users can move these on-screen indicators to the top-left or top-center positions, helping to keep them out of the way of active applications. However, the top-right position will not be available, likely to avoid proximity to the minimize, maximize, and close buttons.
In addition to the indicator adjustments, Microsoft is testing a new Recall homepage that highlights recent activity and frequently used content. “The new homepage brings your recent activity and top-used content front and center, enabling you to easily get back to your previous tasks,” states Microsoft’s Windows Insider team. The homepage features recent snapshots and lists of the top apps or websites accessed over the last 24 hours.

Recall will also include a new navigation bar on the left side, allowing users to switch quickly between the new homepage and the Timeline feature, which lets them scroll through all their snapshots. Microsoft is currently testing these updates with Windows Insiders, with broader availability expected in the coming months.
