The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has named former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a suspect in four major corruption investigations, including cases linked to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), and two other undisclosed matters.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that Ofori-Atta must return to Ghana immediately to assist with the ongoing investigations.
He cautioned that failure to do so would result in measures being taken to enforce his return.
Addressing speculation about Ofori-Atta’s whereabouts, Kissi Agyebeng dismissed claims that the former minister had traveled for medical treatment, emphasizing that he was expected to cooperate with the inquiry.
The Special Prosecutor also denied reports that OSP officials had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on Tuesday, February 11.
Instead, he suggested that the alleged raid was orchestrated by the former minister himself as a diversionary tactic to mislead the public and undermine the investigations.
This latest development underscores the OSP’s commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring accountability among public officials, signaling a renewed push to address allegations of financial misconduct at the highest levels of government.
